Call for workshops

IFIPTM 2018 invites proposals for the Workshop Program to be held alongside the technical conference. Workshops will stimulate and facilitate an atmosphere of active and constructive exchange on current issues of interest. They will allow members of the community to compare and discuss approaches, methods, and concepts about topics addressed by the conference. Workshops also address new emerging areas of interest for Trust Management that in the future may become core, discuss industrial experience with methods and technologies related to Trust Management or address peripheral issues of interest to the Trust Management research community.

The format of the workshops will be open and based on discussion and mutual exchange. As such, we encourage workshop organisers to move away from a “mini-conference” format and create a participatory atmosphere.

Papers accepted by the workshops will be published as short papers (8 pages LNCS) alongside the main conference proceedings in a volume of the Springer AICT series (approval pending). Workshop organisers will also have the opportunity to submit a 7000 words event report to the Journal of Trust Management.

The IFIPTM Workshop and Tutorial Chairs can support prospective workshop organisers in creating a workshop proposal and in putting together the workshop programme. Please refer to the guidelines for creating a workshop proposal below.

Submission guidelines

All proposals should be submitted in plain ASCII text or PDF format by electronic mail to the IFIIPTM 2018 Workshops Chairs. Submission of workshop and tutorial proposals should be made by sending an email to Stephen Marsh  at TBD

Proposals for workshops should be separated in two parts. The first part should be organized as preliminary call for papers or call for participation, depending on the intended format of the workshop with a maximum of two pages and contain the following information:

  • Title of the workshop
  • A brief technical description of the workshop, specifying the workshop goals, the technical issues that it will address, and the relevance of the workshop to the main conference.
  • Description of paper review process (if any) and acceptance standards in order to keep the workshop quality high. Note that papers the conference guidelines on paper submission also apply to the workshops.
  • The names, affiliations, phone numbers, and email addresses of the proposed workshop organizing committee. This committee should consist of two to four people knowledgeable about the technical issues to be addressed. The organizing committee should include individuals from multiple institutions.
  • The primary email address for contacting the organizing committee.
  • Expected duration of the workshop (half or full day).
  • A brief description of the workshop format.
  • List of potential program committee members (if applicable), including their affiliations.
  • List of potential invited speakers, panelists, or disputants (if applicable)

The second part with a maximum of three pages should contain additional information not suitable for a Call for Papers, including:

  • A brief discussion of why and to whom the workshop is of interest.
  • A list of related workshops held within the last three years, if any, and their relation to the proposed workshop.
  • Information about previous offerings of the proposed workshop: when and where it has been offered in the past, organizers names and affiliations, number of submissions, acceptances and registered attendees.
  • A description of the qualifications of the individual committee members with respect to organising an IFIPTM workshop, including a list of workshops previously arranged by any members of the proposed organizing committee, if any.
  • A list of places (distribution lists, web sites, journals, etc.) where the workshop is planned to be advertised.

The selection of the workshops to be included in the final IFIPTM 2018 Workshop program will be based upon multiple factors, including:

  • the scientific/technical interest of the topics,
  • the quality of the proposal,
  • complementarity with the conference topics,
  • balance and distinctness of workshop topics, and
  • the capacity of the conference workshop program.

Note that authors of proposals addressing similar and/or overlapping content areas and/or audiences may be requested to merge their proposals.
