About Us

What We Do

We are responsible for reviewing all research involving human participants conducted by UOIT’s faculty members, staff, or students, regardless of where the research is conducted to ensure the safety and well-being of the human participants.

This also applies to research conducted on UOIT premises by researchers who are not members of the university community. The REB ensures compliance with Canada’s Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans. The Board is also responsible for educating the UOIT community and setting University policies with respect to research involving human participants.

Who We Are

The UOIT REB is the University’s Research Ethics Board.

Our Board members are drawn from a wide range of disciplines and most faculties, concentrating on those where research with humans occurs. In addition, we have representation from the non-UOIT community.

If you are interested in becoming a Board member contact the current Board Chair, Dr. Shirley Van Nuland.
