UOIT Staff are encouraged to request UOIT Ambassadors for any upcoming events in which student volunteers are needed. Please see below for specifications on requesting Ambassadors.

  • What do Ambassadors do?

Ambassadors will share their university experiences with new or prospective UOIT students and act as an ambassador for the university community. The UOIT Ambassadors have received detailed training from the Student Experience Centre on providing campus tours, promoting student services, communications and customer service, and inclusivity.

  • How can a UOIT staff member request Ambassadors for events?

If there is an upcoming event in which UOIT staff require student volunteers, a request for UOIT Ambassadors can be made through the Ambassador Request form. Events may include:

    • Open House

    • Faculty specific day or evening events

    • Donor/Advancement events

    • Community events happening at UOIT (i.e. Special Olympics)

  • What happens once I’ve requested for Ambassadors?

It is encouraged that Ambassador requests be made 4-6 weeks prior to the event. Below is a timeline of the process of an Ambassador request for an event.

    Before the event:

    • Once the request form has been submitted, the Ambassadors will be contacted
    • Ambassadors will respond based on their availability
    • A list of the Ambassadors who registered for the event will be sent to the requesting staff
    • Requesting staff provides the Ambassadors with the information they require to successfully support the event

    During the event:

    • Requesting staff is responsible for coordinating with the Ambassadors, tracking attendance when they arrive and providing direction

    After the event:

    • Requesting staff is required to send the attendance list of Ambassadors back to the Student Experience contact person for tracking purposes
